25 years on and Frogger is still going strong. This newest adventure marks a completely different feel to previous Frogger games. While the central gameplay elements remain the same, the central storyline is unlike anything ever seen in a Frogger game and offers a different twist on the classic gameplay.

Tobi. Inc. are a Toy Company who have created the ‘Toy Pet’ where children can create a toy pet with a mind of its own. The child and their pet then enter a competition set up by the company to find the best designed pet, and this is where the game begins as the child and Frogger enter the tournament.

The game follows the familiar top-down view made famous by the Frogger franchise but utilises the added power of the DS and the split screens to offer some fantastic new features. Frogger can use all of his frog abilities to help him through the levels of the tournament, but he can also pick up new costumes that grant him additional powers. These suits are vital if the player wants to progress.

There are also a series of unlockable mini games including a ‘Monkey Ball’ style level and also one game where players are in a sailboat and have to blow into the built-in microphone on the DS to blow the ship along. There are also multiplayer minigames too that can be played over the wireless connection of the DS.

The fabulously designed levels add to the fun and don’t be fooled into thinking this is a simple game – some of the level designs have been fiendishly put together and players will need lightning reflexes and quick thinking to progress.
